This character turned up in a little book for kids learning 汉字, not as one to learn, but in the first example sentence for 一: 一个玩具. That book, like this blog is one of the many tools I'm using to learn Chinese. I have hundreds of half-made documents, lists and databases of 汉字, based on several books, songs and websites. I figure the more times I see a character in different contexts, the more likely I am to remember it. It seems to work because I can often not only remember a 汉字, but I also where I first saw it too. I'm not sure how useful that is, but it seems to aid memory.

具, like 真, can be written in two different ways - with or without the 目 joined to the base.

The children are playing with toys.
